Queen Street Unmasked a Magical Adventure
Wednesday night'sQueen Street Unmaskedfundraiser for the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) featuredunicorns, harlequins,Serenaand Strombo.
The first thing that caught my eye atThe Drakewas the mask-wearing staff, some in unicorn- andharlequin-inspired outfits.
George StroumboulopoulosMC'd the event, in which each guest paid $150 to attend.
The fundraiser is in support ofCAMH's redevelopment of its outdated facilities at the Queen Street West site into a new kind of hospital for addiction and mental health, designed to be part of a mixed-use urban village that will become a vital and energetic component of the neighbourhood.
The auction in The Drake Underground raised $33,500 alone.Charles Pachter'sReflectionacrylic and inkjet on canvas fetched $13,000 alone.
After the auction we were treated to half a dozen songs bySerena Ryder. Later in the night, K-OS mixed it up on the turntables.
At the end of the night, guests left with loot bags, filled with goodies from Candy Mountain. Altogether, it was an adventure alright, even though there were no magical leopleuridon sightings this time.
