Horse Feathers Tells Story of Dufferin Park Racetrack
The Dufferin Park Racetrack, an integral part of the neighbourhood from 1907-1955, is located on the present site of the Dufferin Mall. It's the subject ofClay & Paper Theatre'sHorse Feathers, a play performed across the street atDufferin树林公园, starting tonight.
The outdoor play, which features a stilt-walking puppet horse,Commedia dell'Arteand live music, is about the bygone days of the racetrack and the local residents' dreams for a better life.
The production brings this significant part ofToronto historyback to the neighbourhood.
Horse Feathersis part of the company's continuing community project,Building Local Storiesinitiative, that ensures local stories of Toronto's diverse communities are shared and remembered.
Shows start tonight at 7:30 p.m. inDufferin树林公园, in the grove between the baseball diamond and the soccer field. Bring your blanket or something comfortable to sit on.
Horse Feathers runs Wednesdays through Sundays until August 17. $10/PWYC.
There will be post-show "talkbacks" led by the cast and creators on Saturday performances.
