Awkward Show and Tell night at The Victory Cafe

Awkward Show-and-Tell's Extraordinary Stories

Last night I leftScrabble in the Cityat Kilgour's pub early so that I could partake in some other fun at theAwkward Show & Tellnight down the street at The Victory Cafe.

Not too different fromGrownups Read Things They Wrote As Kids, this was a night of open mic performances told by ordinary people with extraordinary stories about weird work or school experiences.

There were stories about perv teachers in junior high school, misdirected mass emails and gifts from unrequited lovers at the office.

I got to tell a tale of my own about a job from which I felt I was wrongfully dismissed. It was cathartic to share this story with a roomful of strangers.

My personal favourite story of the night was from someone who told us about getting turned down for a bank loan after it was uncovered that a previous job title wasEscortfor Paramount Entertainment.

Last night's event was part of a Show & Tell series, organized and hosted by Daniel Shapiro (pictured below) that meets every so often atThe Victory Cafe.

The previous installment, last September had a themeThings My Ex Gave Me. Whatever the next Show & Tell theme will be, it's sure to be riveting and revealing.

If you missed the night and wish to share a story about a weird work or school experience, feel free to entertain us here in the comments below.
