A live exorcism and more at Rue Morgue's Black 100
Rue Morguecelebrated 100 issues of its horror magazine atRevivalFriday night with a giant party, featuringSuicide Girls, go-go ghouls and even a live exorcism (pictured above).
At the busy bar area upstairs, I met some of the stars of the vampire filmThe Death of Alice Blue(pictured above, from left: Laura Thorne, Alex Appel and Barbara Radecki). Look out for them when the film debuts in Canada on July 16.
Throughout the place, I encountered plenty other horror fans dressed in their finest shades of black. Everywhere I turned, it was like, "Oh my goth!"
One of the biggest thrills of the night came when we were treated to the sinister sights and sounds of
Squid Lid, replete with heavy, carnival-ized beats, flashing lights and scary masks.
The vibe was pretty light in spite of all the darkness and gloom about the room. It wasn't until we were asked to go into the basement to witness "the exorcism of Lea" (pictured in the lead photo) that things got ugly. Or exciting, depending on your level of squeamishness.
Halloween comes but once a year. Well, some would say thatEvery Day is Halloween. And it was fun to have an excuse to play dress-up and dance around in the darkness for the night.
