This Week In Comedy: Standprov, Comedy Cabaret, Sketch Comedy Lounge, and Tracey MacDonald

A lot of people are upset because OKC lost against the Heat on Thursday night...not me. I'm happy for Dan Majerle, Tim Hardaway, and the rest of the guys. Buck up, and follow me as I walk you through a few events designed specifically to raise your spirits!

MON JUNE 25 /STANDPROV/ COMEDY BAR / 945 BLOOR W / 8PM / $5

The line-up of Eric Andrews, Hunter Collins, Kirk Hicks, Sara Hennessey, and Tim Gilbert speaks for itself, but what makes this show truly special is that improvisers will act out scenes based on the stand-up material that the audience has just witnessed! It's a great format that will pair well with the awesome cast of stand-ups. This eve, focus on Tim Gilbert. I caught his act recently at "Don't Get Bored Of Us And Leave" and his calm delivery coupled with his scathing material (wait 'til you hear his joke about adult improv classes) had the crowd captivated.

MON JUNE 25 /THE COMEDY CABARET/ CHARLOTTE ROOM / 29 CHARLOTTE / 8PM / FREE

Robin Crossman and Chris McLean are producing a special edition of The Comedy Cabaret to commemorate the launch ofNed and Larry.N&L是一个漫画由罗宾,真的taken off in the past year. Another comic of note is Kris Bonaparte, whose comfort on stage is the envy of all amateur comics trying to find their voice. Case in point, a few weeks ago I saw another comedian make fun of the fact that Kris was eating chicken wings. Kris, without missing a beat, went up on stage with his basket of wings and consumed a drumstick while killing the crowd. "What's wrong with eating chicken wings!?"

TUES JUNE 26 /SKETCH COMEDY LOUNGE/ RIVOLI / 332 QUEEN W / 9PM / $5

You're going to love Punch In the Box, a female sketch troupe being featured this week at the Sketch Comedy Lounge. They absolutely nailed the relationship help section in the above clip. Lounge regulars Newsdesk with Ron Sparks and Two Weird Ladies will also make an appearance.

WED JUNE 20 - SAT JUNE 23 /TRACEY MACDONALD/ YUK YUK'S / 224 RICHMOND W / 8PM / $11-20

What do you do after outgrowing the Canadian scene? Win CBS'sStar Search, of course. Then, with a couple hundred grand in your pocket and a development deal, keep doing what you're doing, only now at prestigious venues like The Ice House and the Hollywood Improv in California. Congrats, Tracey!
