Your morning news roundup for Tuesday January 15th, 2008:

Although just a tiny percentage (2-4%) of firearm homicides are committed using legally obtained handguns, Toronto politicians (Mayor Miller included) arecalling for an outright national ban on the weapon. Unless you're a soldier, a police officer, or a redneck, I'm not sure why you'd want/need one anyhow.

Scarborough is feeling kind of neglected once again. This time being left out of the Winterlicious festival (which sucks anyways) has made them upset, and once again we're reminded ofall the unfortunate nicknamesthe east Toronto district has picked up over the years.

Ontario alcohol drinkers arebecoming more sophisticated in their taste, and are willing to spend more on finer, premium wines, spirits and beers. But fear not - the LCBO will still stock plenty ofschlock.

One ofthe greatest proponents for the much debated taser will be speaking in Torontoon Thursday. If the guy has any kahunas, he should be willing to take a few hits with one for us, then fieldquestions from the public and media(if he's still alive, that is). I hope they call him "bro."

Toronto is a little obsessed with breaking world records (stockings, zombies,Facebook groups, and more) putting us inthe top 5 most trying cities on the Guinness roster.
