Eglinton and Yonge

Rooftopping Toronto: Eglinton and Yonge, Midtown Heights

Some call it 'Yonge and Eligible' and others, the yuppie central. Toronto's midtown at Yonge and Eglinton is a very unique place. While offering thefeelof being at the heart of the city pulse, one may still reclaim the charm of distance from downtown proper. We had our eyes on the tallest peak in the area for a while, but decided that we would wait until the building was at least partially active before making our ascent. The view is simply stunning, the isolation almost unbearable, and the silence utterly deafening.

A heavy smog was settled over the city to our south, and the north-eastern gaze was a murky brown. Everything in between, however, was in full fall apparel.

As the sun edged above us on its westward journey, every building and tree took on a different light; shadows shifted far below us as the lazy holiday Monday's day drew on. We took our time on that very lofty roof with its most unique view (especially given the bizarre forecast), and with the ease of a weekday not spent busily at work, I could properly, if somewhat lugubriously take in why it is exactly that I spend so much of my time 'looking down'.
