Canada Day 2012 fireworks in Toronto

Canada Day fireworks are always a pleasant plus on this holiday, whether you attend one of the large-scale and jaw-dropping displays, or just set off a couple of good ol' Roman Candles in your very own backyard. Keep in mind that the traditional Ontario Place fireworks have been cancelled, but there's a few other large displays taking place on Canada Day (that's July 1st, folks).

Ashbridges Bay
Ashbridges Bay is always a mainstay for Canada Day fireworks, and this year's show, beginning at 9:45 pm, promises to deliver. Given the large numbers expected to attend, it's best to leave your car at home. The event's sponsors, Nissan, will also project the 2013 Altima's design features with a holographic projection in a "diffusion of light and water"--they'll be the first company to use this 3D technology in Canada, if you're into that stuff.

Centennial Park
Centennial Park knows how to give the people what they want--ribs and fireworks, that is. Fill up on your daily dose of meat at the 13th annualToronto RibFest(June 29-July 2) and then, on July 1, enjoy Canada Day fireworks from 10 pm.

Amesbury Park
Amesbury Park is planning a day-long celebration that will include a pancake brunch and softball tourney in the morning, 7 hours of live entertainment (2-9:30 pm) and fireworks at 9:45 pm.

Canada's Wonderland
What better way to celebrate our nation's birthday than a stomach-turning day on the rides, followed by Wonderland's fireworks display? If you don't feel like shelling out the considerable cash to be right in the heat of the action, you can park your car nearby and enjoy from a distance. Fireworks are scheduled to begin around 10 pm, weather permitting.

Downsview Park
You'll have more to celebrate than Canada Day at Downsview Park. Their July 1st fireworks also fete the opening of thenational urban parkat Downsview Park. The fireworks begin, rather vaguely, at dusk.

Mel Lastman Square
Featuring free admission, live music acts, and even fireworks choreographed to the music, this is a can't miss event. Enjoy an array of world dance and music, and busking from 5-8 pm,Saidah Baba Talibahfrom 8 pm,The Slakadeligsfrom 9:15 pm, and the fireworks finale from 10:15 pm.
