You'll soon be able to dine underwater near Toronto

You won't have to don a wetsuit or scuba gear to dine under 71,000 tonnes of water. Instead, you'll have to take a trip out to Peterborough's Lock 21 (about an hour and a half away from Toronto) this fall.

Peterborough and the Kawarthas Tourismis trying to bring adventurous eaters out to Lock 21 - the world's highest hydraulic lift lock - on the Trent-Severn Waterway for a unique meal they're calling "Under Water Dining at Lock 21," as theCanadian Press reports.

The tourism group, which is partnering with local food producers, the Trent-Severn Waterway and the Canadian Canoe Museum, brought 12 people out to Lock 21 last month尝试这个新奇的体验。

And they really had to work for their supper; instead of driving out to the lock, the dinner guests had to paddle over in a voyageur canoe. Luckily, as the Canadian Press writes, they were treated to a gourmet feast that included items such as beef tartare, trout and duck eggs.

This setting looks particularly spectacular, considering the locks rise and fall about 20 metres.
