An Italian restaurant in Toronto was flagged by health inspectors this week after they detected multiple infractions.

Mirra's Place, located at 3157 Dufferin Street, was issued a conditional pass notice on May 1 after health inspectors found 14 infractions, three of which were crucial, six significant, and five minor.

The restaurant has been serving up traditional Italian plates, homemade pasta, sauces, and seafood dishes for the past 60 years.

The crucial infractions included failing to ensure "food handler in food premise washes hands as necessary to prevent contamination of food," and failing to "protect food from contamination or adulteration."

Some of the significant infractions were listed as "use utensils not of readily cleanable form," failing to "ensure facility surface cleaned as necessary," and "use dirty cloth for cleaning food contact surface."

Most of the minor infractions were related to conditions in the food-handling room as well as failing to "ensure equipment surface sanitized as necessary."

Although Mirra's Place received a long list of infractions, the restaurant managed to walk away with a conditional pass notice and will remain open for service as staff begin working through the issues raised by health inspectors.
