Toronto film critics announce 2015 award winners

As the year draws to a close, theToronto Film Critics Association(TFCA) looked back and voted for its favourite movies of 2015. It announced its award winning picks on Twitter yesterday, celebrating films such asCaroland the haunting German language featurePhoenixwith top honours.

Despite the social media bravado yesterday, the TFCA will be hosting an awards ceremony on January 5, 2016. That's also when the association will hand out the $100,000 Rogers Best Canadian Film Award - it's the "richest film award in the country," according to a TFCA news release.

Here are the 2015 winners and Rogers Best Canadian Film Award nominees:

Best Picture:Carol

Best Director: Todd Haynes, Carol

Best Supporting Actress: Alicia Vikander,Ex Machina

Best Documentary:The Look of Silence

Best Animated Feature:Shaun the Sheep Movie
