BOOKS & LIT|David Suzuki Legacy Tour
Just from the title of this event, it sounds like David Suzuki just found out he only has a few months to live and so he's touring Canada, telling people the combinations to his lockboxes and burying money in different cities. Luckily, it's nothing like that; he's just making an appearance at the Harbourfront Centre with his new bookThe Legacy. He'll be reading excerpts from the book as well as doing a discussion and Q&A with the audience. Who wants to bet he's going to talk about the environment or something?? Any takers?

MUSIC|何ly Fuck
I think it's safe to say, at least in my opinion, Toronto's Holy Fuck are the best live show around. While they don't have a super interesting stage presence, their shows are constantly different due to on-stage improvisation. Plus compared to their studio albums (which are already amazing), they sound 100x better live. They released their third full length this summer called "Latin" which is arguably their best one yet. Indian Jewelry, and Sebastien Grainger's new electo project, Bad Tits open.

POLITICS|Mayoral Arts Debate
The mayoral election is coming up, so it's about time to learn about all of the candidates. If you've had a hard time paying attention to anyone other than Rob Ford then this is probably for you. ArtsVote has put together a debate with all the leading candidates (Ford included) to discuss the arts and topics such as funding. If you can't make it in person, they'll be streaming the debates viaustream.

MUSIC|Liars w/ Women
Liars have a sound that I'd be very curious to see live. Constantly going from super quiet to speaker blaring loud, experimental, drone-ish rock. It'll certainly be something to see, even for people who couldn't quite get into their latest album "Sisterworld." Regardless, it won't be a total waste though as Calgary's Women open with what will probably be an awesome live show as usual. Also, I think the line up of Liars and Women will really appeal to any guy who just got his heartbroken.

BOOKS & LIT|Gregory Levey Reading
Here's an alternative for those who inevitably won't be able to get into the Suzuki reading. Author and Ryerson professor Gregory Levey will be at The Garrison discussing his new book何w to Make Peace in the Middle East in Six Months or Less. You can read an excerpt from the bookon theNational PostWebsiteto see if it's for you, but I think you should be able to give it a pretty fair judge from the title -- even though you really aren't supposed to do that!
