类风湿性关节炎dar: GRIMES at The Horseshoe, Hipster Bingo, Early Monthly Segments, ArtGives, Elvis Monday

MUSIC|GRIMES + Born Gold + Majical Cloudz + Moon King
A heavy lineup will grace the stage of The Horseshoe this evening! Grimes is the project alias of Claire Boucher, an artist and producer recently signed to the legendary 4AD imprint. Born in Vancouver, Boucher attended McGill in Montreal until her music career pulled her away from her studies. After an opening slot on Lykke Li's North American tour last year, Grimes' third release, "Visions" has prompted a tour that finds her in the headliner slot this time. She will be joined tonight by Edmonton-based electro outfit Born Gold, Majical Cloudz, and Moon King.
The Horseshoe Tavern (370 Queen Street West) 8:30PM $10

GAMES|Hipster Bingo!
Could it be that the 'powers that be' at The Garrison are on to something here? Hipster Bingo is an idea for an event that makes you think - could everything "old" have a chance to be cool again? It's almost a challenge, throwing down the gauntlet to see how far the envelope can be pushed! On the other hand, everyone loves a good game with their drinks - it's a 'pairing' that goes back to the dawn of civilization, and at three dollars a card (useable throughout the evening) the hipsters will agree that this is a great deal!
The Garrison (1197 Dundas Street West) 8PM

FILM|EARLY MONTHLY SEGMENTS #37 = Gordon Matta-Clark
Early Monthly Segments is a monthly film event that delivers rare avant-garde films that are both contemporary and vintage, curated by Scott Berry, Chris Kennedy, and Kate MacKay. Tonight this series celebrates its third year running by bringing you an evening of Gordon Matta-Clark. Matta-Clark was a well-known New York artist in the '70s who, in addition to various artistic endeavours, co-founded a Soho restaurant run entirely by artists called "Food." He did work in a number of different mediums and had a strong background in architecture. His films "City Slivers," "Tree Dance," "Fresh Kill," and "Day's End" will be screened tonight.
Gladstone Hotel, Ballroom (1214 Queen Street West) 7:30PM PWYC ($5 - $10 suggested)

FUNDRAISER|ArtGives
This event has been put together with the intent of raising funds for the Queen West Art Crawl, and promises to be an entertaining evening. There will some great cocktails, and music by the talented Jane Bunnett, Juno Award-winning flautist and soprano saxophone player. Plenty of art by local artists will be auctioned off, as well, with bidding hosted by David Silcox of Sotheby's Canada. If you have the means, this could be a great evening that will help to make the Queen West Art Crawl happen.
Gallery 345 (345 Sorauren Avenue) 6PM $50
