FILM|Portrait of Resistance: The Art & Activism of Carole Condé & Karl Beveridge
The Cinema Politica series opens at the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema for the season withPortrait of Resistance, a film about the art and activism of activist couple Carole Condé and Karl Beveridge. The documentary revolves around the activism of the two, who began speaking out for the disenfranchised in the '70s after giving up any hope for a conventional career, and made a life path out of defending workers' and human rights through their photography. Following the screening, there will be a Q&A with Condé and Beveridge, as well as the filmmakers, Roz Owen and Jim Miller. Admission is by donation.

Coming off a summer tour with Drake and Nicki Minaj, 2Chainz is ready to headline his own national tour and he stops in Toronto tonight at the Phoenix for his Based on a T.R.U. Story Tour. The Atlanta rapper and hip-hop artist released his critically acclaimed mixtapeT.R.U. REALigionin November 2011 and just put out his solo debutBased on T.R.U. Storyin August. Tickets are available online through Ticketmaster and Union Events, and in person at Rotate This, Soundscapes and Play De Record.

MUSIC|Craig Stickland Presents: Love Songs for Summer
Folk singer-songwriter Craig Stickland made this one for the lovers. A night of love songs to remember your summer by, Stickland will be performing at his usual venue with a 10-piece band behind him at the Drake tonight. His set list will include some new songs from his upcoming albumKings and Beggarsand covers some of the most romantic songs you'll already know. The Walkervilles, a three-piece Motown rock group from Windsor, whose line-up includes Pat Robitalle and members of Michou, will open the show with some melodies and soft tunes that everyone can love.

MUSIC|TWM: Boy Castle, MiMi Cry, Skymovies at Rancho
It's Tuesday at the Rancho which means it's TWM night and three new bands will play to the pleasure of your ears. Opening the show is Skymovies, Toronto solo performer and songwriter Scott Kelly, who will be playing his mellow DIY music on the guitar. Following Skymovies is MiMi Cry, a Toronto indie pop rock band who have slowly been building a reputation in the city. Closing out the show are pop punkers Boy Castle, who promise a loud, and possibly disturbingly dirty, good time. Doors open at 9PM and tickets are available at the door.
