Raptors fans express concern after positive COVID-19 tests postpone game

Some timeouts need to be called before the game even starts.

The NBA has announced that Tuesday night's matchup between the Toronto Raptors and the Detroit Pistons has been postponed and tentatively rescheduled for Wednesday. It's the second straight postponement for the Raptors organization following Sunday's game against Chicago suffering the same fate.

Previously, Toronto was just one of four NBA teams which had yet to have their schedule interrupted due to COVID-19 protocols.

Concern within the organization began Friday when Pascal Siakam,Nick Nurse and five other coacheswere forced to miss a game as a result of health and safety protocols.

The league has said that Tuesday's postponement comes as a result of positive test results and ongoing contact tracing within the Raptors organization, though no further information has been released.

Following the announcement, several fans expressed their concerns, wishing the best for all players and staff involved.

Even a few furry friends were sad to learn that they'll have to put cheering for their favourite team on hold.

The Raptors currently find themselves with a 17-17 record, tied with the Heat and Celtics for fifth in the Eastern Conference as they push for a playoff spot while playing out ofTampa Baythis season.

For a team that won five of its last seven games, there's some worry that the shuffling schedule may have killed any momentum they were building leading into the season's second half.

Currently, the team is scheduled to play just two more games before the All-Star break. With no players set to appear in the festivities, it will provide some much needed time off for the ailing franchise.

Before then comes a pair of back to back games beginning with the rescheduled contest against the Pistons on Wednesday, and then a matchup against the rival Celtics the next night.

Should no further schedule changes arise, the team will then have the full week to recover before playing Atlanta on March 11.
