london toronto go train

Service just began for the first GO Train from London to Toronto

A GO Train from London to Toronto completed its first trip ever in the early hours of Monday morning.

Riders boarded at London's VIA Rail station for the 5:20 a.m. train, as it was set to arrive at Toronto's Union Station for 9:13 a.m..

Metrolinx announced last monththat it would be expanding service on the Kitchener GO Line to London, Stratford, and St. Mary's as part of a pilot project.

The eastbound trip from London to Toronto will make all stops to Bramalea GO, and then express to Union.

Another train will be running this afternoon from Toronto to London at 4:19 p.m. Riders can expect to arrive in London around 8:17 p.m.

The trip back will be an express train from Union to Bramalea GO and continue making all stops to London.

For now, trains will only be running on weekdays, with just two scheduled a day: one in the early morning and the second afternoon one.

In terms of pricing, a one-way trip between London and Toronto is $30, making it accessible to Western students and other Londoners who are looking to take a trip to the city.

Since this route is still in the pilot project phase, Metrolinx says riders won't be able to use Presto on the new route. Instead,GO e-ticketsshould be purchased for each trip.
