Love Me Sweet

Love Me Sweet is where you should go if you're craving Japanese-style cheesecake when you're not downtown. This bakery, located at the base of the World on Yonge condos, serves up these freshly-baked goodies for those who crave thatUncle Tetsustyle but don't want to spend an eternitystanding in line.

Bright red walls adorn this tiny bakery. There's no seating as this is a takeout-first operation, but that doesn't diminish the enthusiasm of the locals who are in to get their cheesecake fix.

The lack of seats also has the unexpected effect of making the whole place feel less cramped. Rather than forcing a tight seating area, you can leisurely saunter around the waiting area while munching on free samples while you wait for the next batch of freshly made cheesecake.

There are two kinds of cheesecake available - original ($10) and chocolate ($10.25). Tthe original version is rich, fluffy and creamy, but not heavy. When eaten right after it comes out of the oven, it's pure bliss.

The chocolate one is no slouch either - I can best describe it as a cocoa-powder take on the original version. It's surprisingly not overwhelmingly sweet but has a slight bitterness.

So, how does it match up to Uncle Tetsu? The texture and flavours are very similar, and if anything, Love Me Sweet's version feels fluffier.

I find that Love Me Sweet has several advantages over its more famous counterpart. First, the lineup is shorter.

Second, there are no limits on the amount of cheesecake that you can buy between Mondays and Thursdays. A limit of two cakes per customer is in effect on the other three days of the week.
